It's Official: Samsung KNOX 2.6 Is Strongest Mobile Security Platform

With every passing year, mobile security is becoming increasingly important, with enterprise users and retail consumers alike carrying sensitive, confidential information in their smartphones and tablets. While BlackBerry and Apple make a lot of noise about how secured their respective platforms are, a new report from a leading market research firm begs to differ. According to a recently-published report from Stamford, Connecticut-based research and advisory firm, Gartner, in the battle to reign supreme in the world of enterprise mobile security, it is Samsung Electronics that leaves all its other competitors behind. The report in question is titled “Mobile Device Security: A comparison of Platforms” and was published by the American market research firm on the 6th of this month.

Gartner says that it pitted a dozen different mobile security products against each other during its research, before coming to its conclusion that
Samsung’s KNOX 2.6 platform is indeed the most secured of the lot. Knox 2.6 is implemented out of the box on Samsung’s two latest premium smartphones, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. According to the report, KNOX 2.6 received the most number of ‘Strong’ ratings compared to its peers, making it by far the best and most secured platform for enterprise mobility. What’s more, as Samsung itself points out through its press release, KNOX was also the only platform to have been rated as ‘Strong’ in “all security controls listed in the Corporate-Managed Security category”, including, but not limited to critical categories like Authentication Methods, Encryption Management and Application Vetting.

Samsung’s executives have understandably been quick to pounce on the report and claim that it has always been the company’s endeavor to ensure peace of mind for its customers. According to Samsung’s executive vice president, Mr. Kevin Gilroy, this isn’t the first time either that the company has received Gartner’s seal of approval as the most secured mobile platform that modern day technology can offer. According to him, “Gartner gave Samsung KNOX the most ‘Strong’ ratings of any platform for the second year in a row … which we believe is a validation of the work we’ve done to offer the most secure system for our enterprise customers.” It remains to be seen if such reports are able to sway the minds of IT departments around the world, who still seem to prefer Apple’s mobile operating platform for its perceived security benefits.
